Setting Up Google Authenticator (2FA) for Your BizRatings Account

Google Authenticator adds an extra layer of protection to your BizRatings account by requiring a time‑based one‑time passcode (TOTP) during login. This ensures that even if your password is compromised, your account remains secure.

Important:
Google Authenticator is a user‑level security setting.
Each employee must log into their own BizRatings user profile and complete the setup individually.

Where to Access Google 2FA Setup

Each user must navigate to:

User Profile → Setup Google 2FA

Administrators cannot enable Google Authenticator on behalf of users.

Why Enable Google Authenticator?

Enabling Google Authenticator provides:

• Stronger account security
• Protection against unauthorized access
• A simple, fast verification method
• Offline authentication (codes work even without internet or cellular service)

How to Set Up Google Authenticator

1. Install Google Authenticator on Your Mobile Device

Download and install the app on your phone:

• iPhone (iOS): Search for Google Authenticator in the App Store
• Android: Search for Google Authenticator in the Google Play Store

Once installed, open the app and be ready to scan a QR code.

2. Log In to Your BizRatings User Profile

1. Go to the BizRatings login page
2. Enter your email and password
3. Open the top‑right user menu
4. Select: User Profile → Setup Google 2FA

This will take you to your personal Google 2FA setup page.

3. Scan the QR Code

On the setup page, you will see a QR code displayed.

In the Google Authenticator app:

1. Tap +
2. Select Scan a QR code
3. Point your phone’s camera at the QR code on the BizRatings page

The app will automatically add your BizRatings account and begin generating 6‑digit verification codes.

4. Enter the Verification Code

After scanning the QR code:

1. Look at the 6‑digit code displayed in Google Authenticator
2. Enter the code into the Verification Code field on the BizRatings setup page
3. Click Activate Google 2FA

Your Google Authenticator setup is now complete.

Logging In with Google Authenticator Enabled

Once activated:

1. Log in with your email and password
2. You will be prompted to enter a 6‑digit code from Google Authenticator
3. Open the app, retrieve the code, and enter it
4. You will be securely logged in

Codes refresh every 30 seconds — always use the most recent one.

Troubleshooting

The code is not accepted

• Ensure your phone’s time is set to Automatic / Network Time
• Make sure you are entering the current 6‑digit code
• Refresh the page and try again

Lost or replaced your phone?

Your BizRatings administrator will need to disable your Google 2FA via their company security settings management so you can re‑enroll a new device.

QR code won’t scan

• Increase screen brightness
• Clean your camera lens
• Choose Enter setup key manually in Google Authenticator and type the key shown below the QR code
